Project Name Development of a syringeless anticancer drug
Year 2000 Director
It’s been a long time since world-renowned research institutes took part in the development of edible anticancer drugs. Despite enormous investments in research costs and personnel, it was not easy to develop such a drug until a KIST team (led by Hye Seon JEONG) succeeded in developing a new type of anticancer drug, less toxic than conventional injections and easy to take. It is expected to generate an economic value of tens of billions of won and reduce the trouble and pain that cancer patients have to go through when treated with conventional anticancer drugs injected at a hospital. These drugs are scheduled to hit the market in two or three years after clinical testing.
