Nanoscale engineering boosts performance of quantum dot light-emitting diodes

 

1. Content & Characteristic

       O This research unveils the influence of Auger recombination (AR), which occurs

          in nanocrystal quantum dots (QDs) at a time scale of 10 to 100 picosecond, on

          the performance of quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs), and also

          suggests practicable approaches to control AR in structurally engineered QDs

          for high performance QLEDs with full potential over displays, lightings and

          lasers. It includes:

             - Nanoscale engineering of QDs with controlled single exciton & AR rate.

             - Correlation between QLED performances and QD carrier dynamics.

             - Demonstration of high performance QLEDs with nanoengineered QDs.

       O This research provides a direct evidence on the effect of AR to the device

           performance, and also suggests practical approaches by structurally

           engineering QDs to prompt the realization of high-performance, color saturated

           QLEDs for practicable applications over displays, lightings and lasers.
