KIST Dr. Byeong-Guk Kim Takes Office as President of Korean Ceramic Society
Byung-Kook Kim, Head of KIST's Innovative Enterprise Cooperation Center, took office as the 44th President of the Korean Ceramic Society and the 10th President of the Korean Association of Materials Related Societies. Founded in 1957, the Korean Ceramic Society is carrying out various academic activities on behalf of the materials, parts, and equipment industry together with more than 3,000 experts in the materials, advanced materials, semiconductors, chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, and machinery fields.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. Kim stated, "We will push for a reorganization of the industrial technology classification system to increase the value of the ceramics industry. We will also seek to contribute to the development of the ceramics industry through core materials and parts technologies to secure technological sovereignty by establishing a network through the expansion of industrial, academic, and research exchanges."
After graduating from Seoul National University's Department of Inorganic Materials Engineering, Dr. Kim’s previous roles at KIST include serving as Head of the High Temperature Energy Materials Research Center and Innovative Enterprise Cooperation Center. He has also served as an Expert Committee Member on the National Science and Technology Council's Leading and Basic Industries Committee, and as Chairman of the Materials, Parts, and Technology Development Program and Coordination Committee. Dr. Kim’s term of office will be for one year, beginning January 1st.
