The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) is dedicated to realizing a future in which science and technology brightens the lives of every Korean.
As the first government-funded research institute in Korea, KIST has been the model for many other such institutes, and it played a central role in Korea’s miraculous economic growth by driving the country’s S&T research over the past five decades.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016, KIST is now taking big steps in preparing for the next 100 years. We aim to create a better quality of life for not only Koreans but everyone in the global community as we prepare to face the challenges of aging societies, climate change, energy shortages, and lack of sufficient food and water resources. Our key focus is to promote convergence research and open collaboration as a way of providing potential solutions to social problems, all while continuing in our historic role as Korea’s economic engine. We will continue to pioneer the frontiers of science, strengthen our role as Korea’s leader in R&D, and expand our global influence through collaboration and international aid.
2018 has proven itself to be a year in which KIST, through the actions of each and every one of its members, has successfully built upon its proud history and taken decisive steps toward achieving even greater miracles. Please walk with us and take part in the realization of these miracles.
